“Green Sunday” is an environmental-oriented community activity of YDA Vietnam, initiated by International YDA, a charitable organization for global youth, based in India under the umbrella of His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa’s support.
This activity is regularly organized on Sundays, in order to raise awareness of environmental protection. Relevant activities are usually involved in cleaning, collecting rubbish in public places, roads in the city, neighborhoods, etc. These help people and the youth to be aware of protecting and keep the environment clean, raise awareness of environmental protection from families to society and community.
Ms. Do Thi Kim Lien, the Honorary Consul of of South Africa in Ho Chi Minh City and President of Green Vietnam Fund said: “As a citizen living on this planet, I always remind myself and my family members, friends and colleagues to protect our living environment, save electricity and water, limit the use of chemicals, hazardous waste discharged into the environment, for example, when shopping, we should use reusable baskets or bags instead of nylon and plastic bags; classify garbage at home, etc. paying attention to the composition of cleaning chemicals in daily life discharged into environment, saving and reusing paper to limit deforestation, etc.”
Through the program, Ms. Do Thi Kim Lien expects that volunteers, especially students, the future generation of the city and country, to take some time to share, care, help and sympathize with the people who suffer more difficulties.
