Accompanying the Consulate of South Africa in Ho Chi Minh City during the organization of “Clean house to welcome Tet holidays” program.

Since the period of 2015 – 2019, this Fund has been accompanying such “Clean house to welcome Tet holidays” program initiated by the Honorary Consul based on the support by companies: VASS Assurance Corporation, College of Business Administration and Management (CBAM), YDA Vietnam, Thang Long Youth Club and more than 2,000 volunteers and students from many Universities such as HUFLIT, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City Open University, Van Lang University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Vietnam Australia International School, etc.

As the idea developer for the program, Ms. Do Thi Kim Lien – the Honorary Consul of South Africa in Ho Chi Minh City – Chairwoman of the Fund Green Vietnam Fund has shared: “With this program, our aim is to help young people in increasing awareness and taking practical actions for the Green – Clean – Beautiful environment. Through the experience of caring for people and improving the living places, they have the chance to grow up, to see the effects of good deeds, and to earn a living more positive and meaningful”.

Every springtime for five consecutive years, together with thousands of volunteers and students from 30 universities, she has lightened the fire of the aspiration of a better future for our beloved city through the simplest but most meaningful actions. That are cleaning tasks for households in preparation for spring in Ho Chi Minh City and thereby propagating the message of cleaning and protecting living environment of us.

The entire wages earned by the volunteers and students are used for the purchase of materials including rice, phrynium placentarium leaves, green beans, meat, etc. for making and giving “banh chung” (square sticky rice cake) to the local poor and homeless people and purchase and donation of clothes, utensils, etc. to homeless shelters, open houses for any and all special subjects and people in difficult circumstances so that they can have meaningful Tet holiday, performing useful and meaningful activities for the community.

The “Clean house to welcome Tet holiday” program also cooperates with Humanitarian Blood Donation Center to organize blood donation activities for volunteers. The donated blood shall be provided for patients in the city.
